Freedom for Morvalonga

MOLAR Insurgents

Morvalongese Organisation for Liberation And Revolution (MOLAR) is led by the self styled General Wottabiq Birbelli. He is supported by the neighbouring state of Qaza'ar with safe havens, training, weapons, equipment and advisers. He uses particularly brutal disciplinary measures and wages a campaign of terror against the residents of Morvalonga neither whites nor blacks are safe from the depredations of his insurgent bands. Many are little more than brigands or petty but violent warlords holding a loose allegiance to Wottabiq Birbelli based on fear and plunder. Though not particularly religious himself he encourages all religious fanatics to join his cause be they Islamic, Christian or Pagan matters not so long as they are extremists.

Here we see Wottabiq Birbelli posing with his close escort and specially fitted out Land Rover. He has other vehicles but, for security reasons, he does not like to show them in public.  Here he is seen weaging his field service uniform.

In this photo the Qaza'ar advisory group pose in front of their Lezni Machbux jeep. Nothing but the best for these comrades!

Note that General Q'stard Qareem is second from the right.

The most feared of all the warbands is that known as "The Sons of Sutekh". These base their cult on the Ancient Egyptian god Sutekh.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(mythology) They drive blood red vehicles and dress in black with red head coverings that allow only the eyes to be seen. The worship of Sutekh the Destroyer involves the ritual mutilation of prisoners by cutting them into 13 parts. Always in the front rank is their cult leader Heid Choppah showing off the latest severed head for his collection.

The Bling Boys or Blue Boys are all youngsters who race about in specially painted and customised powerful cars. Lots of lights, loud horns and shiny chrome characterise these cars. They drive fast and take great delight in forcing others off the road. The General employs them as recce troops. They employ all sorts of gadgets that they can steal.

The only unit that can be even loosely described as "regular" is the Tank Regiment named "Crushers of Men". This unit operates T34 tanks supplied by Qaza'ar. The rumours are that most of the crews are Qaza'ar regulars on loan to MOLAR

The majority of the MOLAR forces are made up of the militia. Some are devoted to the cause while others are only there because of terror. There is every variation between. Their training ranges from nil to adequate. The best trained are the heavy weapons platoons.

And the others are variously trained and loosely organised militia bands

On the right of this unit can be seen the courier (runner) section of young boys used for communications.

The General ordered that his militia units should be equipped with suitable support weapons. And so his agents set off with their pockets bulging with diamonds into the neighbouring state of Qaza'ar. There they bribed their way into weapons markets.

Until all this "modern" equipment arrived the militia had relied on improvised explosive devices and booby traps. (S&S)

While Qaza'ar the promise of many more diamonds persuaded the King to supply some armoured vehicles. The King did not intend to weaken his own army and so had the Gate Guardians of the Royal Barracks and some equipment renovated from museums, reconditioned them and repainted them so that they would at least run:
The Thunderers of the Earth are now equipped with JS3 tanks

The Armoured Regiment received a much needed recovery vehicle

The General was given his very own Command Vehicle a BTR-50 lookalike based on a T-34 chassis. Unkind people refer to as the General's Dalek, mind you not may militiamen know what a "Dhaleq" is and treat it with some reverence.

Most of the figures are plastic from various Caesar, ESCI and other sets and they are reinforced by S&S, Elheim and Mutineer miniatures metal models.

The rivers of Morvalonga are always under threat from these raiding craft crewed by rebels supported by Qaza'ar and other nefarious agencies. These fast and lightly armed boats are feared for their lightning attacks and ferocious crews.

With the increasing air power of the Morvalongan government forces I painted up a few AA gunners. Some might eventually be mounted on Technicals or other vehicles.

To add some heavy firepower to the militia I built a fire support pickup based on one I saw on the news in Libya.

A matchbox diecast toy, a spare BMP turret, a couple of coffee stirrers and some card produced a scruffy and suitably "home made" addition to the army.

Similarly three old Hotwheels scout cars picked up at a car boot sale in a bundle of cars for my grandchildren had damaged turrets so these there removed, a card roof fitted and surplus BMP-1 turrets fitted.  Now MOLAR has a powerful recce unit.
