“Methinks this cave smells evil! Belike a guarded treasure lies within.” Says the Squire.

 The treasure is the Goblet of Phryne which produces wine on command spell. This wine makes a drinker infatuated with the person giving the Command.(Pellicere!).

 

JC - Jack of Clubs Lady Eglantine Bruce worth 175 Silver Pennies

A jousting field held by Sir Stryf Comyn with a prison cave holding Lady Eglantine, cousin of Queen Guinevere. Unless Eglantine is re-united with her husband Lord Robo Bruce the family will die out. # Will shout alarm if conch has not blown.  

“I am Sir Stryf Comyn and I hold no treasure, only the wife of my enemy. Go elsewhere interlopers for this is a private feud!”

JD - Jack of Diamonds Titania’s Mirror worth 175 Silver Pennies

A grove of trees with a large mirror against some rocks at the end, guarded by Bryn the Elf. Bryn in fact stole it from her people long ago and came here to escape their vengeance. Titania’s mirror has the property of recalling the images of people and scenes it has recorded. Speaking from cover Bryn will threaten, “Leave my grove evil raiders! After two hundred years of practise I never miss with my bow. Unless you leave my grove I shall shoot your damsel dead!” (“Chivalry is a human concept and besides you are trying to rob me, a woman elf!”) She will shoot at the damsel first, then the destrier and then the groom before the Squire. # will raise the alarm if surviving.

 JS - Jack of Spades Cauldron of Diwrnnach worth 175 Silver Pennies

A shelf on the rocks harbours the magic Cauldron of Diwrnnach. On the word of Command ( Ardour!) it will heat up liquids without needing any fire. It is guarded by the giant Kolosso. He will throw a rock at the destrier as soon as his area is entered because he likes horsemeat. # Will raise the alarm if conch has not blown.

QH - Queen of Hearts Girdle of Morgan le Fay worth 250 S. Pennies

The girdle is in a casket at the far end of Cara’s Pool. On the magic Commands it can disguise the wearer into a bush or a rock. # Raise the alarm if the conch has not blown.

 

 

“I am Dame Cara housekeeper to Warlock Hanigle. I am sure a noble squire as you are would not be so unchivalrous as to harm a lady, even if you did not know it would result in your instant death! You see before you my pool and at the far end is the magic girdle of Morgan le Fay. The pool is protected by Leydonic magic, which will destroy any person carrying aught of metal. Now as housekeeper I have need of wenches to scrub and dust and prepare our meals. To obtain the girdle your damsel must walk the stepping stones collecting the four wooden keys that will open the casket. On the damsel reaching the first key my guardian Nob will awake and seek to catch her. If he catches her by pushing her into the water, she is doomed to serve me as a cleaning wench. If she reaches the casket with the four keys, she shall have the girdle and be free. If Nob falls into the water and she cries ‘Freedom!’ she shall be free but not obtain the girdle.  {It would take the squire eight moves to don & doff his armour}
 
Cara’s Pool Rules (two rounds per move)

Damsel starts first, Nob starts when Damsel has reached the first key. Stop = round over.

Damsel D6 –1 if wet = 1 slip! 2 stop, 3+ jump on. Slip D6 2- fall in 3+ stop 5+ jump on.

Fallen in takes one unopposed round to climb back on. She surrenders if Nob reaches her. Nob moving D10 –1 if wet = 0 Fall in 1+ stop, 4+ jump on.

Catching?  When Nob reaches the Damsel on a stepping stone, His D10 minus her D6

= 1+ he catches her, -1 + dice again, -2- damsel dodges by moving again.

If Squire tries to attack Cara (Me –2) she dices D10 3+ kills him with a Leydonic bolt!

QC - Queen of Clubs Scabbard of Excalibur worth 250 S. Pennies

The Scabbard which magically protects the wearer from bleeding, is hung at the end of a  jousting field. It is guarded by the knight Sir Unico the husband of  Dame Cara Hanigle’s housekeeper. # Will raise the alarm if the conch has not blown.

“I am Sir Unico guardian of the scabbard of Excalibur. I suggest you leave this place foul invaders!”

He will only surrender the scabbard after being killed or crippled in a joust.

QD - Queen of Diamonds The White Unicorn worth 200 S. Pennies

The White Unicorn grazes in its meadow, protected by Rhuma a flying Puma who will challenge from a high perch on the crags.

“Begone foul strangers this meadow is mine and I protect the unicorn!”

If  the party advances she will swoop down to attack the squire.

QS - Queen of Spades The Sooth Lasso worth 200 Silver Pennies

The magic Sooth lasso is treasured by the dwarves who captured it long ago from their bitter enemies the Amazons. Anyone held in the lasso must answer any questions truthfully. (Hundreds of years later this became the property of Wonder Woman.)

 

The Sooth Lasso is in a casket guarded by the three dwarves Hasty Pasty and Nasty of the Kazid Misogyny clan. Whilst the first two will attack the Squire, Nasty will run to try and kill the damsel. She dices D6 5+ draws dagger ready, 3+ flees screaming, 2- stands screaming helplessly a round. If within 2” the groom will help defend her. Unless impeded she will flee back to her ship.
