The BlueKilns Wharf incident

Player D Police Sergeant Bradford Tuckerton

A Police Sergeant on the night shift of the Limehouse Mary Road Police Station, you are paid a retainer by the Hearts of Oak Society. So are your three constables. Your Inspector also on the pay roll, rarely calls. You tend to take your orders from Bart Culip the Landlord of the Queen’s Head and Boughman of the Society. You and your men are duty bound to bring in for questioning any strangers to the area. Especially any taking an interest in the activities at the Bluekiln Wharf! Although some strangers have been arriving occasionally to call there, they have been carrying the wooden acorn, which means that they are trustworthy. You guess that the higher ups in the Society are running something illegal there but that is not your business. They have two men on duty all the time in the gatehouse to the wharf and there are skeleton crews aboard the ships. You and your men have the photographs of a dozen ‘troublemakers’ thought to be operating against the Society’s interests. (Blacklegs and Dock employers spies!) Top of the list are Sandy Harbour and John Wilkes who should be held in the cells until they can be questioned by Society officials. (Contact Bart Culip who will pass the word on.) Bart has people who can back you up in any unpleasantness if sufficient reason is given. Whilst your active area is outside the Wharf Gates you are duty bound to respond to any request from the BlueKiln Claywares or the Silchester Line shipping who operate there. They are Hearts of Oak approved concerns. Sometimes messengers come from elsewhere carrying the wooden acorn token. These are to be let through without hindrance. Chinatown begins at the far end of Narrow Street but they tend to do their own policing.

Objective: Keep the hearts of Oak Society happy!

You are standing alone outside the Police Station smoking when you see four suspicious looking characters coming down Mary Road. (You are a policeman, everyone you do not know personally is a suspect! You do not trust even those you do know!)

It is dark & windless with overcast skies, sighting visibility is down to ten inches with recognition at five. This increases to sixteen and recognition at eight inches near the lit gas street lamps. The poverty stricken inhabitants of this area will lurk in their habitations earnestly ignoring all shouts, shots and screams!

To conceal identities & strengths in the dark, players will move flags until meeting.

In this game the Umpire draws the chance cards each move and plays them as instructed or to suit the game if alternative applications are possible.
