Scene 2 Dark Ages & Medieval Village buildings A variety of huts with wooden walls and ‘thatched roofs. Scratch built windmill and beacon flambeaux on right crag. Scree addition to left crag. Thatched church with separate tower. Some garden plots which in fact are the reverses of cobbled road section. Two mud coloured and one whitewashed cots. Two long houses of the but and ben type. One has a its detachable heather thatched roof. The other has a flat roof and trap door suitable for Middle Eastern use. The ladder, well and open fire, are scratch made. Windows were rare but would have been covered in oilskin or horn to let in a little light. |
