Freedom for Morvalonga

The People

Morvalongans or Morvalis come from a variety of racial, cultural and religious groups.  Most are from the various African tribes that settled in the area over the centuries.  While others arrived from the north, south and west.  Along the coast and trade routes are many traces of the Arabs who traded ivory, slaves and spices.  The principal religion is Christianity with the established church being The Lord's Church which takes many of its forms from both Anglican and Roman Catholic traditions.  The head of the church is Archbishop Baptismay Phaunt.

In the villages and countryside the men still form local defence forces against predatory animals and brigands.

The rebel groups often start out as mobs of discontented farmers and townsfolk. Sometimes the people arm themselves for self defence or to demonstrate their support or opposition to the government.
