Graf Silth's Mission
Rupie Chase
Beevil’s Account
Beevil had sent Matrigna
and sundry others to cause distress to the force of interloping dwarves that
were camped at the Salubral Spring. As yet none had returned and his Verdini
subjects had not reported to him about them? However he always planned for the
long term and was sure that he could rectify any hint of disloyalty by the
Verdini. After all he had four of their maidens as hostages for their good
behaviour.
Around midmorning when he
sat with his guards in the hall cave, they heard the Imps shrieking the alarm.
They shouted that a large party of dwarves and Verdini were approaching the
Chase. He ordered his followers to their pre-determined defence posts and headed
up the stairs to the top of the crag. There Hi San and Clo San headed to man the
heavy hand stones over the main entrance, whilst he transferred himself to the
Gheist Flache. He then rose to beside the Imps to evaluate the threat. It was
serious! Both Eliza and the rats had been vanquished and Gnashing, wounded by an
arrow was fleeing back to the top of stairs chamber. A force of dwarves was
heading up the pathway, so he ordered Hi San and Clo San to oppose them. He
himself looked for the Verdini Chief. He intended to curse one of the Imps onto
him but alas, Sixarmia had cut Vaggo’s head off! So he then showed himself to
the dwarves but they realised that he was in the Gheist Flache. They had already
seen the Imps there at the Salubral Spring and knew better than to waste
missiles. Whilst in his way quite a powerful magician, Beevil with sixteen
spells at his fingertips, none were much use in a fight. The best for that was
Strength Drain and when he tried that
he failed. The dwarves had such high Spell resistance it had little chance. A
magician on their side cast a blinding flash which caused him to reel away
blinded. Several dwarves rushed after him so he thought it best to flee. There
was no certainty that they did not have some magic weapon that could reach him.
He fled through the flaches to the top of the Kitchen Crag. There he found the
Imp Shrik and they watched as the events unfolded. They saw one Jedonese knight
slain and the other flee into the newel stair top chamber. The enemy then went
down inside and presumably overcame his concubines and the Giant Nutch. He could
see so many swarming on top of his
home crag! Then screams came from below him, as his kitchen staff and prison
guards were killed or captured. Then there was a silence for quite a while. He
hoped that the foe would be satisfied with rescuing the maidens and having
killed so many of his monsters! But no, eventually he saw them massing beside
Eliza’s lair. Vitro a flying demon emerged from his vent cave, hoping to
frighten them but had hardly appeared when he was shot down!
Their best armoured dwarves then led the way in time to meet
Weispfote, and six of his whorgi giant
wolves. These he had called for earlier and he hoped that they might do some
damage. Alas the plate armoured halberdier dwarves in the lead, killed two
whorgi and Weispfote and the rest fled!
The
Sorceress Matrigna and her menie arrived just in time to witness the flight,
without being able to stop it. Matrigna called out the Thog and the two hell
hounds from their caves and prepared to oppose the dwarves. Alas Beevil’s son
Brevit and the bodyguard Phat were slain with crossbow quarrels. Matrigna then
fled with her few survivors. One dwarf was downed by a fire ball from Brevit but
the whole action had been too one-sided. In a last flicker the panther Phlyer
and the wounded demon Gringham belatedly flew over, hoping to find an easy
target. Phlyer was brought down by a quarrel and Gringham fled. Beevil and his
Imps then went to join Matrigna and the Whorgi and hoped to raise other supports
for to strike again at these malign dwarves.
Having still four Imps, he needed to discover
the names of the dwarves in order to have a chance to afflict them!

Games Master’s Account
for all these dwarf based actions
This saga occurred to me
after purchasing five female dwarves in Regency period dress. Female dwarf
figures are few and far between so I automatically bought them. I then delved
back into where dwarves had appeared in earlier Morval Earth actions. Making
Graf Silth’s party head down into the forested part of Limura, sent them where
the people disdained the wearing of armour. Marshal Morgana’s follower Commander
Knull came from there.
The wolf pack actions
enabled me to use some that had been resting for quite a while and the skeleton
Iggy figure cost me fifty pence at the market! The two border forest actions
were between slow armoured dwarves and very mobile unarmoured tribes people. The
latter were more used to hunting deer and fighting off wolves.
The action against the renegade dwarves showed once more Alan’s skill in
tactical decision making and excess luck with missile dicing,
The Salubral Spring
The party were again wisely
cautious and the luck went completely their way. Enough to convince Vaggo that
here were possible allies, capable of helping him throw of the yoke of Beevil
and his monsters! This would give me a chance to use some monsters that had lain
unused in their trays for decades!
Rupie Chase
The attacking party played
very cautiously for the most part. Shoving Vaggo into the melee with Sixarmia
was a bit rash but otherwise they played safe the whole time. Putting their best
soldiers in the front really paid off. Needless to say the effect of their
missile fire was way beyond average. They only had three crossbows and only two
dwarves to fire them! Alas that I was not well enough organised to photograph
the fighting within the cave network.
