Games with Grandad -

ISLE OF SODOR INVADED

One weekend my oldest grandson, aged 5, decided that he NEEDED a sleepover at Granny and Grandad's.  I had set up his train set on the wargames table for a change, we usually play with it on the kitchen floor just to get in the way of Granny. He asked if he could play a game with his army men. So we did. The rules were simple. We had some dice with skulls on - 1 skull killed any baddy but 2 skulls were needed to kill a goody. Special rules - whatever he or Grandad said was needed for the story. ORBAT - Baddies - grey army men, some trucks, some cannons a pirate ship and 2 dinosaurs. Goodies, Thomas, Percy, green army men some tanks and cannons.

So the story.

It was a quiet day on the Island of Sodor. Thomas was sleeping after pulling Annie and Clarabel all night (adult joke) and Percy was taking some soldiers to the sea side.


In the station some Army Men were waiting for Percy to come and take them to the sea side because they had been Very Good Soldiers.


Thomas was sleeping peacefully in his siding among the trees.


Percy was out playing and taking soldiers to the sea side. It was such a nice day that even the Troublesome Trucks were behaving.


Suddenly the was a terrible noise. The Baddies and the Pirates were attacking!


More Baddies had sneaked over to the side road!


But some clever Goodies were waiting for them in the trees. Percy gave a WHOOSH! and called "PEEP PEEP, Thomas wake up!" And he charged the Baddies knocking a truck off full of Baddy soldiers off the tracks. 


The Baddies sent in more soldiers and trucks with pirate cannons on the back and Goodies drove their tanks and carriers out of the woods to fight them.



Percy rushed on laughing and knocking over Baddy soldiers.  But all of a sudden a Baddy Dinosaur charged out and bumped him off the rails. Percy was a bit dented and could not move.


The Pirates and the Baddies were attacking the station.


And the other dinosaur attacked the Goodies' tank.


The Pirates sailed up to the station and all the noise wakened up Thomas at last!  He was really grumpy until he saw the pirates and the Baddies.


Thomas saw what was happening and with a great WHOOOSH and WHEESH of steam he sped down the tracks really fast and smashed the pirate ship off the rails.


The Baddie dinosaur had knocked over the Goody tank but suddenly Nellie the Elephant charged it and smashed into it with her tusks.


Thomas knocked all the Baddies in his way off the tracks and rescued Percy by knocking over the other Baddy dinosaur.


The Baddies started to run away when they saw Thomas and Nellie coming for them.

After the fight the Fat Controller said that Thomas and Percy were Really Useful Engines.
