My Biggles Collection

NEW  For my list of planes in the WW1 adventures in the Biggles Books click here

Some of the first books that I read were the Biggles Books by Capt W E Johns set in the First World War.  In the 60's I had a collection of Airfix and Revell model kits hanging from the ceiling in my bedroom.  Until, that is, my delightful brothers and their friends shot them down.

Recently I have been collecting them again at sales and on e-bay.

The scheme I have used on the Camels follows as close as I can the standard colours of the day with what little can be gleaned from the descriptions in the books.  Really the same goes for all of the aircraft.  I think I'll try to make the same mistakes as WE Johns - he describes the Fokker D-VIII monoplane fighter as having Maltese Crosses when it should have the later Balkan Cross so I'll probably do the same.

They are not works of art.  Almost all are built straight from the box.  The Bristol Fighter and the RE-8 caused much cursing and almost caused a loss of my sense of humour.

Later I'll add the Ace of Spades Fokker D-VIII monoplane, a Hannover, Wilks' SE5a, a Pup, a DH-4 and more Camels, Fokkers and Albatrosen.  As well as any other stuff in period that I can find.

Biggles has appeared in some of our wargames too.
